The annual Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) was held February 19-20, in Las Vegas, Nevada. KBIS is the largest trade show in North America solely dedicated to kitchen and bath design. Attendees and exhibitors travel from near and far to see the latest innovations in the industry, network with each other, and exchange ideas.
Based on what our team members saw during the show, here are a few of the top trends we can expect to see continue throughout the year:
- A Splash of Color
Many big and small appliances have already jumped into the world of color, like KitchenAid mixers or SMEG appliances, but we expect other appliance makers to follow their lead. During the show, we saw hues of green, red, bronze, blue, and even champagne colored kitchen appliances. No longer are laundry or kitchen appliances simply functional, but also beautiful. Homeowners will now carefully consider decor when selecting a new appliance.
- Smart Appliances are Everywhere
Whether you choose to use the capabilities in your home or not, it is almost certain that if you purchase a new appliance of any kind at this point, it will include some level of smart technology. In the months to come, expect to see next level voice integration, Wi-Fi connectivity, and smart home controls that will seamlessly integrate into the home to better adapt to your modern lifestyle.
At the end of the show, the most prestigious award for the kitchen and bath industry were given to celebrate innovative new products of the year. Check out a few of the Best of KBIS 2019 Award Winners:
- BEST OF SHOW: Blade 3D Printed Faucet, DXV by American Standard
The stainless steel Blade features a pure design and unique user experience, while other 3D printed faucets have preserved a more conventional product. The faucet turns on automatically as hands approach, and water is delivered from the edge of the circular opening in the spout, mimicking a vortex shape. The reduction in design complimented with the true luxury of this product made the Blade 3D printed faucet a sure standout.
- KITCHEN GOLD: 48-in. Dual-Fuel Pro Range with Built-In Sous Vide, by Signature Kitchen Suite
This Pro Range is the first on the market to include built-in sous vide, induction and gas, all on the same cooktop. The sous vide functionality is a cooking technique which utilizes an extremely precise control of temperature, with restaurant-quality results. This feature was previously limited only to the pros, but now you can have your desired results in the comfort of your own kitchen.
- SMART HOME TECHNOLOGY: Flo by Moen
With Flo, you can rest assured that home leaks will be monitored, detected and stopped upon discovery, all controlled by an app on your smartphone device.
